Is hybrid homeschooling for your family?
Hybrid homeschooling does not meet everyone's needs. It is important to consider your primary goals and needs for hybrid homeschooling. Questions to ask yourself:
- Can I dedicate the time needed to adequately support my child? For example, if both parents work outside the home, hybrid homeschooling will likely not be a great fit. Young children especially need hands-on guidance and support and should not be expected to work independently. Partnership is vital to the success of participating in a hybrid model. Additionally, if your family travels often and cannot keep the classroom time commitment, then hybrid homeschooling might not be a great fit for your family.
- Do you like having full control over grades and curriculum? If so, then hybrid homeschool is likely not a great fit for your family.
- If your student needs extreme modifications in a classroom, a hybrid model may not have the support services to accommodate student needs, and a hybrid model may not be a good fit.
- If you want more time with your children, the flexibility to adapt lessons at home to meet their individual needs, and the support of experienced teachers, then hybrid homeschooling might be the perfect fit. Many families also appreciate having a couple of weekdays free for work or errands while their children are in class. If you love the idea of homeschooling but don’t want to handle all the lesson planning on your own, hybrid homeschooling offers the best of both worlds.
