Educator Resources
We understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with this educational model, and we are here to support you in navigating this rewarding career. With only 18% of traditional public school teachers reporting job satisfaction, and over 90% of hybrid school teachers reporting job satisfaction, it is no surprise that the hybrid model is growing for not only families but also for educators (Association of Christian Schools International, 2023; Wearne & Loud, 2024). Teachers within this model are often able to simply teach the information they love, without the red tape and paperwork associated with a 5-day public school. There are numerous pros to this model for educators, but there are a few challenges to consider as well.

Classroom Time
Teachers in a hybrid model must quickly learn to prioritize classroom time, having significantly less time with students. Each minute must be maximized to the fullest. This requires careful planning, clear communication, and strong classroom management.

Communication
In the hybrid model, it is essential to keep open communication between parents, students, and administration. Parents are equal partners in this model and are typically the ones who hold legal responsibility for ensuring students are meeting the requirements of the law. Teachers should clearly communicate expectations for work to be completed at home. Additionally, feedback should be communicated to parents regularly. Parents are not able to adequately complete their portion of the partnership if teacher communication is lacking.
Additionally, be sure to foster your relationship with parents. Be sure to show interest in a child's background and needs (Hood, 2025). Showing sincere interest and respect goes a long way in building open communication.

Shared Space
Using shared space can be a challenge for educators in hybrid model schools. Many schools rent, share, or use donated spaces, which helps cut costs and reduce maintenance responsibilities. However, there are a few key considerations for utilizing shared space effectively:
- Maintenance is a common source of conflict (CM Lawyers, 2024). Be a responsible steward of the space and model integrity (Titus 2:7, Christian Standard Version, 2017). If something breaks, report it to your administration and inquire about next steps.
- Understand who to contact for issues. Policies differ and while some require concerns to go through a central contact, others allow direct handling when feasible. Acting without proper approval can be problematic.
- Prepare for surprises. Store materials securely, lock cabinets, and remain flexible to adapt to unforeseen changes.

Professional Development
Lack of funds, resources, and professional development opportunities can be issues of concern for hybrid schools. However, one researcher shares that the sign of a good teacher is his/her desire for lifelong learning (Murray, 2021). If your school does not have the resources to support professional development opportunities, seek out free and alternative options. Especially in a rapidly changing technological society, educators need to stay current on the latest research and information (Twining et al., 2020).
